Obituary

William "Billy" Spellman, 68, of Boynton Beach, FL, died peacefully and with dignity on September 17, 2020 after a long and courageous battle with cancer and more recently, Covid. Billy was predeceased by his father, Dr. Robert M. Spellman and his mother, Gloria Hamel Spellman. Billy is survived by his siblings, Robert and his wife Amanda Spellman of Merrimac, MA, Susan Spellman and her husband Jay McGovern of Newburyport, MA, Michael and his wife Carolyn Spellman of Palm Beach Gardens, FL and Francis Spellman of Jupiter, FL. He also was a loving uncle to his nieces and nephews: Bobby, Ryan, Tina, Carey, Emily, Sean, Erin, Sara, Frankie and Gigi.
Billy grew up in Wellesley, MA, and later split his time between his two favorite places, Cape Cod and southern Florida. He was a good athlete and a particularly talented hockey player and was a lifelong, passionate Boston sports fan, especially his Boston Bruins.
He was a graduate of Georgetown University. Billy developed life-long friendships wherever he landed. He was passionate about music which first surfaced as child, playing in a band at clubs and private functions throughout the greater Boston area with his 3 brothers in "the Spellman Fore". He enjoyed playing several musical instruments, and most notably was a virtuoso on the harmonica and guitar.
Billy had a varied, unconventional career. For the past several years he was known throughout southern Florida for his pride and joy, the "Cape Cod Lobster Roll Company", a traveling food service vehicle. Billy creatively converted a used fire and rescue bus into what became the hit of many seafood festivals and fairs in the Boynton Beach area. He was most proud of the delicious "special secret sauce" that he developed for his fabulous lobster rolls. Earlier in his career he owned "Wicked Willies", a restaurant in Lake Worth, FL.
Billy's funny, irreverent and creative spirit will be sorely missed. There are no plans for a service beyond the immediate family at this time.
