William Edward Stancl, 61, passed away in Boca Raton, Florida on November 28, 2014. Bill was born on January 22, 1953 in Jackson, Michigan. His parents, Catherine and Warren Stancl, preceded him in death but he is survived by his only child, Heather Stancl and his siblings: Sharon (Fran) Kostel, Pat (Rick) Caruso, Mary (Dave) Smid, and Randy Stancl. Bill attended Benet Academy and Illinois Wesleyan University in Bloomington, Illinois, graduating in 1975, as a member of Theta Chi Fraternity. Throughout his career, Bill had great success. Bill was an avid golfer, beginning competitively in high school and playing at the collegiate level. His life-long love of the game took him and his family to some of the most beautiful golf courses in the world. In 2008, he achieved the ultimate dream of a golfer to get a hole-in-one while golfing at the Ballyliffin Golf Club in Ireland. Bill enjoyed all sports, combining his love for travel and athletics through skiing and golfing.
A service will be held for Bill at Saint Patrick Church (Crane Road campus) at 11 in the morning of December 13, 2014. His family will host a gathering to follow to remember him and celebrate his life. In lieu of flowers, his daughter requests that gifts of time or donations be made to local alcohol awareness programs.
